Plan an Instrument Donation Drive
Consider Hosting a Gift of Music Instrument Donation Drive!
Through your Instrument Donation Drive, you will be supporting Musicopia’s Gift of Music program, where we collect, repair, and place donated instruments in schools with students who are eager to play, but cannot afford an instrument. Through this statewide initiative, spearheaded by Musicopia for the Philadelphia region over the last 12 years, we have collected over 2,000 instruments for schools in need.
With the public’s help, we hold instrument donation drives and benefit concerts throughout the year, enabling us to give the gift of music to children who would love to play an instrument but do not have resources to buy or rent the needed equipment.
Studies have shown that music education has a positive effect on childrenʹs emotional and intellectual growth, and improves basic reading and math skills. Involvement in the performing arts strengthens self‐esteem, and encourages self‐discipline, teamwork, and school attendance.
Your Instrument Donation Drive can Transform a Child’s Life!
How to organize your Gift of Music Instrument Donation Drive:
Designate when you are going to hold the instrument drive and where the drop off location will be.
Contact Musicopia for your customized flyer/posters and donation forms.
Distribute flyers and display posters in your workplace/school/organization and the community.
Please have the donor complete the Instrument Donation Form when donor delivers an instrument. The form can be found on our website: www.musicopia.net. This allows Musicopia to personally thank your donor for his/her donation and acts as a tax receipt.
Please store instruments in a safe and secure place.
Please contact us at 215‐829‐9522 x102 or GOM@musicopia.net and someone from Musicopia will direct you to a nearby instrument drop off location or discuss other options for the collection of your instruments if needed.
Extra Measure Campaign
We also accept donations for our Extra Measure Fund which will help us repair and refurbish donated instruments right away and put them quickly into the hands of an eager young musician. Gifts of any amount are welcome. As a general guide, it costs an average of $25 to repair an instrument. Donations may be made by check, payable to “Musicopia,” and mailed to the address below or via the “Donate Now” button on our website.
