Afrobeats and Mindfulness Program
Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Afro-pop and afro-house, a global phenomenon that celebrates the rich musical heritage of Africa. In this dynamic program, students will explore the diverse sounds and styles of Azonto from Ghana, Amapiano from South Africa, and the ever-evolving Afrobeats genre from Nigeria. Through engaging dance classes, young people will develop physical fitness, coordination, and rhythm while cultivating creativity, self-expression, and confidence.
Our AfroDance program is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for all levels, from beginners to seasoned dancers. Each class will begin with a dynamic stretching flow to prepare the body for movement, followed by instruction in basic Afrobeats moves and grooves. As students progress, they'll learn to appreciate the cultural context and history behind the music, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of African diasporic cultures.
The program will conclude with a brief centering meditation and cool-down, helping students transition smoothly back to their daily activities. By participating in this program, young people will not only develop their physical and artistic skills but also build self-esteem, discipline, and teamwork – essential life skills that will benefit them far beyond the dance studio."
