Cullen's Guitar and Oboe Duo

Grammy-award winning Guitarist David Cullen and Oboist Jill Haley take audiences on a magnificent trip around the world by illustrating the many styles of music, ranging from classical to jazz to blues, which will expand students’ views and understandings of global culture. This assembly program opens new doors and expands the creative horizons of student instrumentalists.

The selections range from J.S. Bach to Debussy, to the Mexican Hat Dance and Cockles and Mussels, an Irish tune. David and Jill call upon the students to close their eyes and use creative visualization inspired by the music that they hear. After playing a piece, they allow some volunteers to share these images with the rest of the audience. At the school’s request, this amazing duo will work closely with music teachers to make sure that they incorporate pieces covered by the current curriculum.
