Sherry Wilson Butler is a vocalist, performing artist/entertainer, lyricist, short-story writer, vocal coach/teacher, public speaker, educator-activist, and workshop developer/leader. She has studied voice at Settlement Music School, Combs College of Music, Temple University, and through private instruction with vocal teachers Artie Singer, and Ric Poulin in Philadelphia and New York City, respectively. She holds her MSE from Temple University and her BA in Communication Arts from Cheyney University. Ms. Butler teaches voice privately for her own company SherrVocalise Studios, and at the Philadelphia Clef Club as well as in summer programs, including the Perkins Performing Arts Center, Moorestown, NJ, the Paoli Presbyterian Church Vocal Camp and the Clef Club Music Camp. Known for her hands on-participatory interactive workshops, Butler has presented workshops and performed concerts at the Anguilla, West Indies Jazz Festival and at the Cape May Jazz Festival. Ms. Butler was a finalist in the Savannah International Vocal Performance Competition 2003 and in the JazzConnect International Vocal Competition 2005-06. In August 2006, Ms. Butler was selected as one of 155 applicants chosen as a Performing Artist for the 2007-09 Pennsylvania Performing Arts On Tour (PennPAT) Artist Roster.

Ms. Butler has performed and recorded throughout the United States, Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Iceland, and Greenland with Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Paul, Patti LaBelle, Monnette Sudler, Gerald Veasley, the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, John Blake, Barry Sames, Doc Gibbs (the Emeril Live Show), Charles Fambrough, Dwayne Eubanks, and Dwayne Dolphin among others. An adventurous artist, Sherry leads several of her own bands/groups and enjoys arranging music that crosses jazz with various genres of music. She takes great pride in fusing the old standards with contemporary music, and joining seasoned musician with upcoming artists, thereby bridging generations of jazz, pop, R&B, blues, and sacred music. Known for her splendid artistry, her sophomore CD will be out in 2008/2009.
